December 4, 1987 The Message -- for Catholics of Southwestern Indiana Around the Diocese 7 Christmas Store A total of 350 Evansville area :! r, families are expected to visit the 14th annual Christmas Store which is sponsored by Catholic Charities, according to Gary Eltzroth. The volunteers, many who work year-round, are responsible for the success of the Christmas Store, Eltzroth said. The five members of the Buy- ing Committee spend the entire year obtaining items for the store. They are Judy Kirsch, Johanna 'Ann' Seibert, Valada Howard, - Sue Pence and Cecelia Jarboe. "They are just invaluable," Eltzroth said. "They look for items we can use for the Christmas Store on a year-round basis." Eltzroth estimates it will take 30 volunteers a day to staff the Christmas store. He said the Christmas Store , receives donations from parishes, St. Vincent de Paul societies, ladies sodalities and men's clubs. The Christmas Store will be open from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. December 7, 8 and 9 at St. Mary Social Center, Evansville. Families from Vanderhurgh, Posey, Gibson and Warrick counties are eligible for the Christmas Store. Holy Name officers New officers of the Holy Name Society at St. Anthony Church, Dubois County, are John Kempf, president; Kenny Leisman: vice- president; Glen Knies, secretary and Kenny Wathen, treasurer. Jim and Betty Hardesty of St. Joseph Church, Dale, celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. Altar Society Dean Schaefer is president of the St. Ann Altar Society at St.' Joseph Church, Evansville. Eagle scout Michael Hartmann was presented an eagle scout award in a ceremony at St. Philip Church, Posey County. He earned 31 merit badges dur- ing his years in scouting and his eagle service project involved landscaping at St. Philip School. Vocations Week Seventh and eighth grade students at Holy Redeemer School, Evansville, made their annual vocations trip to St. Meinrad this fall.
