Provincial
leaders
elected
Three natives of the Diocese of
EvansvilLe have been elected pro-
vincial councilors in the St.
Gabrial Province, which is the
midwestern province of the
Sisters of Providence at St. Mary-
of-the-Woods.
Sister Mary Mundy, S.P. is a
native of-Jasper. She is pastoral
associate and youth minister at
St. Clement Church, Boonville.
Sister Marsha, S.P. is a native
of Vincennes; Sister Mary Mont-
gomery, S.P. is from Bramble.
The new officers will assume
their leadership positions in June
1990. Their duties are to provide
leadership in promoting the mis-
sion of the Sisters of Providence.

Joseph Steurer of Jasper has
been appointed to the St.
Meinrad Seminary Board of
Overseers. He is vice-chairman
and treasurer of the board of
Memorial Hospital, Jasper.
He and his wife Connie have
three sons. He will be serving as a
member of the development and
public relations committee.

Over 250 people attended the
sixth annual awards dinner for
the Memorial High School K of C
Council 565 grade school football
league on Oct. 29.
Ralph Weinzapfel, Memorial
football coach, stressed the im-
portance of the league, noting
that 20 of the 27 players on this
year's cub team came from the
league.
The team from Holy
Rosary/Good Shepherd/St. John
received the championship
trophy at the dinner. Steve
Markwell was head coach.
Assistants were Mike Minton,
Mike Skvara, Kevin Swartz and
Ron Mills.
Jamil Meriwether, a student at
St. Benedict School, Evansville,
was the league's leading scorer
with 42 points.
Poster winner
Shannon Martin, a fifth grader
at Holy Spirit School, Evansville,
won first place in the Evansville
fire prevention poster contest.
