Youth Works Training coming to area A new program, Youth Works, is being intro- duced to area parishes, to help develop a more com- prehensive Youth Ministry program, according to Christine Hanson, high school member of the Evansville East Deanery Advisory Council, and a member of Holy Rosary Church, Evansville. Hanson said that two training sessions will be presented by Mike Mosley, who is fi'om the Center of Ministry Development, Naugatuck, Conn. "During these training and planning sessions each parish decides on the plan to get youth and youth leaders involved in their program as well as decide ways to create a strong, comprehensive youth ministry program," Hanson said. "After the parish has decided on a plan of action, the members of the youth ministry team will implement the program and evaluate it on a regular basis." Youth Works is sponsored in part by Youth Resources of Southwestern Indiana, who approved a grant request written by the High School Youth of the Evansville East Deanery parishes, and by the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry. Youth Works is being presented on Friday, Oct. 25, and repeated on Saturday. Oct. 26, from 9 a.m. to4 p.m. Newman Center to have 'Haunted House' The University of Evansville Newman Center is putting on a "Haunted House" geared towards grades K-4, on Thursday, Oct. 31, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Cost of admission is one canned food item. The Newman Center is located at 1901 Lincoln Avenue (one block west of Weinbach). Feeder League Football wraps up League champion St. Benedict/Holy Name fin- ished the se/lson with a 6 and 0 record, defeating Christ the King/Holy Spirit Oct. 20 31 to 7. Jacob Todd scored the first touchdown in the first quarter on a 1-yard run, and Clint Kern added the point after. Craig Emig and Christan Farley added two more TDs in the second quarter. Rick Marquis scored in the third, and Clint Kern ran back a fumble for another TD in the fourth. Christ the King/Holy Spirit scored on a 3-yard run by Brian Luckar, who also added the point- after-touchdown. Holy Rosary/St John remained in second place with a 38 to 0 victory over St. Theresa/Good Shep- herd. Darren Dulay ran for six touchdowns. Louie Croce completed twice for points-after-touchdown. St. Theresa/Good Shepherd won the Flag League with a 6 and 0 record. Information provided by Thomas J. Jones, Commissioner of the Memorial Grade School Foot- ball Feeder League. 1996 CROP Walk to be held Nov. 3 The Evansville Community of Churches, along with the Tri-State Food Bank, has planned the 1996 Crop Hunger Walk on Sunday, Nov. 3. Registration begins at St. Theresa Church, Evansville, at 2 p.m., with the walk scheduled to begin at 2:45 p.m. Money raised allows Church World Service to respond to hunger throughout the world.
