I I Daviess County The "new" St. Patrick Church, stands proudly at the top of a ridge. To the north isthe "new" cemetery. The interior of the church below right shows the care given in well over a century of celebration. The historic picture of"The St. Patrick Society," right center, dated August 15, 1899, shows the new rectory and the church. In 1875, he used the logs of the old church at Glencoe to build an addition onto the rectory at Coming. In 1880, Father Gustav Michael Ginnsz became pastor. He began construction of a chapel at thite of the old church at Glencoe. Chapel construction was completedby the next pastor, Father Charles Curran. He remodeled the church at Coming, and built a new rectory; he also built a school at Glencoe. To pay off parish debts Father Curran purchased an apple orchard on land ad- joining the church property at Coming. Parishioners took care of the orchard; the profits of the or- chard helped take care of the debt. Fater Fred Burget, pastor from 1905 to 1914, further developed the apple orchard, according to a history of the parish written by Patricia O'Connor in the Tri-County News, November 27, 1984. According to the newspaper account, Father Burget "had a Dolce lighting system installed in order '"' to have lights in the barn where the t. Sunday, 10:30 a.m. I parishioners were working on the, apple crop, and also to have lights in the church and rectory." While Father Joseph HamiU was pastor {1914-19}, the church bell was hoisted into the tower where it is today; stained glass windows and new pews were added. In 1930, during the Great Depression, St. Patrick Church at Coming and St. Michael Church in Daviess County became missions of St. Peter Catholic Church, Montgomery.
