The parish is "home to a family of over 1,000 members," according to publicity prepared for the fund drive. The goal is to save the church and to keep the parish family intact. The church building was begun in 1894, in the parish which was established for Ger- man immigrants in 1888. Today, it is a melting pot. The parish serves people of Asian, African and European her- itage, of all ages and educa- tional backgrounds.
