Leingang Thank you To all of you in our diocese serving as catechists, thank you for accepting the task and challenge to teach as Jesus did. You are a generous person responding to a call from God. You are a valuable contribution to parish life. You are a tremendous gift of value to the world. You are the heart and soul of the Church's teaching effort. You share this responsibility with hundreds and thou- sands of other people. Effective religious education pro- grams are built on your love for students. Without you a program cannot be offered to our students and adults as pilgrims on the way. You face a great, great challenge. Your efforts and good intentions may go unno- ticed or taken for granted. You may lose interest or get tired. Just recall a face of a child listening with genuine interest or a child enjoying the presence of God in a nature walk. Let this remind you of your valuable self as catechist. I commend you for your involvement in the catechetical ministry of today's Church. Together, let us put our very best foot forward and work harder to instill Catholic values in all whom we teach. Thank you for being you and for car- ing enough to share the Best who is God through Jesus Christ and His Church. Sr. Mary Emma Jochum, O.S.B.
