September 11, !987 The Message -- for Catholics of Southwestern Indiana Around the Diocese 7 Alumni association ' The Mater Dei Friends and Alumni Association elected Ron Hollander as president for the 1987-88 year. He succeeds Paul Mayer, who was president dur- ing the 1986-87 school year. Hollander, a 1959 Mater Dei graduate, is an investment broker at Hilliard Lyons, Inc., Evansville. Other new officers are Bob Rheinlander, vice-president; An- dy Goebel, treasurer, and Linda Rheinlander, secretary. ,- The alumni association has an- . j. nounced that its Annual Dance will take place on Friday, Oct. 16, in the Mater Dei Cafeteria. Scholarship winner Robert Pokorney, a recent graduate of Memorial High School, Evansville, has been named winner of a James E. Casey Scholarship. The scholarships are awarded to children of United Parcel Ser- vice emp'loyees. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Pokorney of Evansville. Newest teacher Sister Francis Clements is the newest member of the faculty at St. Wendel School, Posey County. Sister Clements will be teaching music and doing tutor- ing in the school. The school will also have two aides this year. Hilda Spahn will be working in the first grade and Vicki Elpers will be helping with the second grade. Committees Committee assignments have been made for members of the Evansville Catholic High School Board for the 1987-88 school year. Roselle Weinzapfel will be chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee. Serving on her committee will be David Tieken, Diane Krug and Father Bill Wargel. Head of the Building Commit- tee will be David Tieken. Also on that committee will be Tom Cor- coran Pat O'Neill and Father Wargel. The Executive Committee will be composed of Tom Corcoran, chairman, and Vicki Donahue, Pat Will, Linda Rheinlander and Father Joseph Ziliak. The Marketing and Develop- ment Committee will be headed by Linda Rheinlander. Assisting will be Father Francis Schroer. ing, Pat O'Neill, Father Ziliak and Father Gene Schroeder. Vicki Donahue will head the Personnel and Salary Commit. tee. Also on the committee will be Diane Krug, June Folz, Pat Will and Father Schroeder. The Compliance Committee will be composed of Roselle Weinzapfel, chairman, Father Schroering, June Folz, Father Wargel and Dave Tieken. The principals of both Memorial and Mater Dei high schools are ex-officio members of all committees except for salary negotiations. New teachers David Steinkamp has been hired as new eighth grade homeroom teacher at Christ the King School, Evansville. He will also teach social studies and math.
