Kissel iscelebrating the twenty-fifth anniversary of his ordination, with a Mass of Thanksgiving at Nativity Church, on Aug. 9 at I p.m. A reception will follow in the Nativity parish cafeteria, from 2 until 4 p.m. Brother priests, relatives and friends of Father Kissel are invited, according to his sister, Debbie Neufelder of Ev. ,ans, ville. "Please let your pres- ence be your gift, she added. Father Kissel was ordained Sept. 1, 1973, and has spent much of his priestly life in teaching and campus ministry. After completing his doc- toral studies at Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium, he returned to the diocese and was a member of the faculty at the University of Southern Indiana. In 1996, he was released by the diocese to take a teaching and ministry posi- tion at St. Leo College in St. Leo, Fla. Don't miss the Distinguished Service Award Benedictine Sister Mary Emma Jochum has been recognized for her work in religious edu- cation and catechesis. The National Conference of Catechetica[ Leadership presented her with the Distin- guished Service at its annual meeting this spring. The award honors an individual for leadership in catechesis. A native of Huntingburg, Sister Jochum has been a member of the Sisters of St. Benedict in Ferdinand since 1957. From 1989 to 1993, she served the Diocese of Evansville as director of religious educa- tion. She was associate director from 1988 to 1989. She also served as principal at Holy Cross School, Fort Branch, and as DRE at St. Clement Church. Boonville, and St. Joseph Church, Vanderburgh County. She currently is director of faith formation at St. Paul Church. Tell City. Sister Jochum was nominated bv the dioce- san directors of religious education in the five Indiana dioceses, including Indi- anapolis, Lafayette, Fort Wayne- South Bend. Gary and Evansville.
