Written by Bryan Adams, Jean-Jacques Goldman, Elliott Kennedy Sung by Celine Dion Copyright 7/8 1997, BADAMS Music Ltd. (ASCAP)/Sony Music Publishing UK Ltd. Celine Dion's "Let's Talk About Love" is one of 1998"s best-selling discs. Her megahit "My Heart Will Go On" is the album's most recognized cassingle. However, as I listened to the CD, I was drawn to the tire song written by fellow Canadian pop artist Bryan Adams. "Let's Talk About Love" says "There are people around the world -- different faces, different names; but there's one true emotion that reminds me we're the same. Let's talk about love." Love, as Scripture so well describes, is more than an emotion. It is a way of acting and an attitude of the mind. See St. Paul's famous words on this topic in his First Letter to the Corinthians (Chapter 13, if you want to check them out). For teens, love especially concerns how you treat your peers. High school and middle school are famous for cliques that exclude fellow classmates. How will you respond if a group of your friends sin- gles out certain individuals for criticism, ridicule and exclusion? If you stand up against your they may decide to treat you in the you tacitly go along with their approach, to the harm being done to others. Such situations are tests of character. Do really believe what's involved in the tude of love? Do you see that all your respect, even if others treat Perhaps you also don't really like excluded. You still have a choice about behavior. You can choose to be kind respectful. You know in your heart that this right way to treat others even when ) them. It is not difficult to identify the Christian:k; responses that love invites. The challenge is the courage within yourself to act upon At our parish here in southern middle-school youth group to help each other out -- if we're going to Christians, that is. Peer pressure and peer are formidable forces. Teens.who aspire to Christians are going to need each love is going to be more than just talk. , I suggest you bring up these topics at yoUr parish youth group meetings. "Talk al but even more important, act upon you are a disciple of Jesus. Your comments are always welcome. Charlie Martin, 7125 W 200S, Rockport, Ind.
