Father Kenneth Graehler has been appointed Pastor of St. Mary Church, Sullivan, and Pastor of St. Joan of Arc Church, Jasonville. Father Graehler, 53, is a Jasper native. He was born Sept. 20, 1937, the son of Al- bert Graehler and Lorena Schuetter Graehler. After his ordination, March 30, 1963, he was assigned as assistant pastor of Christ the King Church, Evansville. He also served as assistant at St. Clement Church, Boonville; St. John Church, Newburgh; and St. James Church, St. James. He also served as asso- ciate pastor of Christ the King Church and St. Theresa Church, both in Evansville, and St. Simon Church, Wash- ington. In 1973, Father Graehler was appointed pastor of St. Peter Church, Linton, and ad- ministrator of St. Joan of Arc Church, Jasonville. He was co-pastor of St. Ferdinand Church, Ferdinand; pastor of St. Bernard Church, Rock- port; pastor of St. Philip Neri Church, Bicknell, and pastor of St. Wendel Church, St. Wendel. Father John Kane has been named Pastor of Corpus Christi Church, Evansville. Father Kane, 48, is a native of St. Louis, Me. He was born May 24, 1943, the son of John Patrick Kane and Margaret Langton Kane. He was ordained for the Diocese of Evansville, March 1, 1969. His first assignment was as assistant pastor of Holy Family Church, Jasper. Father Kane also served as assistant pastor of Sacred Heart Church, Evansville, and as pastor of St. Philip Neri Church, Bicknell. He has been co-pastor and pastor of St. Ferdinand Church since August 1980. Father Thomas Kessler has been appointed Pastor of Holy Spirit Church, Evansville. Father Kessler, 40, is a na- tive of Evansville. He was born Oct. 19, 1949, the son of Robert Kessler and Mary Louise Varley Kessler. He was ordained June 7, 1975, by Bishop Francis R. Shea. His first assignment was as associate pastor of St. Joseph Church, Jasper. Father Kessler has served as chaplain at Memorial High School, Evansville, since 1980. His most recent service to the diocese also included the pastoral care of St. Rupert Church, Red Brush. Father Joseph Kirsch has been appointed Moderator of St. Nicholas Church, Santa Claus; he will continue as Pastor of St. Joseph Church, Dale. Sister Mary Terence Knapp, O.S.B., is the pastoral administrator of St. Nicholas Church. Father Kirsch, 38, is the son of Charles J. Kirsch and Loyola Mary Wolf Kirsch of Evansville. He was born Feb. 4, 1953. He was ordained June 22, 1979. His first assignment was as associate pastor of St. John Church, Newburgh. Father Kirsch has been pas- tor of St. Joseph Church, Dale, and administrator of St. Nicholas Chapel, Santa Claus, since September 1987. Father Philip Kreilein has been named Pastor of St. Fer- dinand Church, Ferdinand. Father Kreilein, 42, is the son of Raymond Kreilein and Lucille Kensch Kreilein. He was born Sept. 28, 1948, in Jasper. He was ordained June 2, 1974. His first assignment was as associate pastor of St. Simon Church, Washington. In 1977, he was assigned to teach at Mater Dei High School, Evansville, with resi- dence at St. Wendel Church, St. Wendel. Father Kreilein was named associate pastor of St. Antho- ny Church, Evansville, in 1980. He was assigned to teach part time at Washington Catholic High School, and to serve as pastor of St. Mary Church, Washington, in 1982. He has served as pastor of Holy Cross Church, Fort Branch, since 1988. Father Sylvester Loehrlein will return as Pastor of St. Rupert Church, Red Brush; he is also assigned to the Clergy Assistance Pool. Father Loehrlein, 62, is a native of Fulda, Ind. He was born Nov. 7, 1928, the son of Edward Loehrlein and Beat- rice Koenig Loehrlein. He was ordained March 18, 1956, and assigned to teach at Memorial High School, with residence at Holy Trinity Church, Evansville. He later served as assistant pastor of St. Anthony Church, Evansville. Father Loehrlein also served as assistant pastor of Sacred Heart Church, Vin- cennes, and St. Boniface Church, Evansville. His first pastorate was St, Bernard Church, Gibson County, in 1963. His service to the diocese has included teaching at Mater Dei High School, Evansville; associate pastor of Good Shepherd Church, Evansville, and a return to Sacred Heart Church, Vin- cennes, as associate pastor. Father Loehrlein was named co-administrator of St. John Church, Evansville, in 1973. He remained at St. John as administrator and pastor until 1988, when he was ap- pointed pastor of St. Rupert Church, Red Brush, and asso- ciate pastor of St. Clement Church, Boonville. He has also served as pastor of St. Martin Church, Chrisney. His most recent service in- cluded providing pastoral care at St. Peter Church, Montgomery, and the nearby St. Michael and St. Patrick churches in Daviess County. Father Bernard Lutz has been appointed Pastor of Holy Cross Church, Fort Branch. Father Lutz, 53, is a KNOX COUNTY SEED COMPANY VINCENNES Gibson County native. He was born Oct. 9, 1937, the son of Sylverius Lutz and Olivia Obert Lutz. He was ordained March 30, 1963, and served his first as- signment as assistant pastor of Sacred Heart Church, Vin- cennes. Father Lutz was appointed as chaplain of the Newman Center, Vincennes, with resi- dence at the Old Cathedral, in 1966. He also served as assis- tant at St. Vincent Orphanage and St. Vincent Church, Vin- cennes. After campus ministry po- sitions at Vincennes and at Indiana State University, Evansville, Father Lutz was appointed as diocesan coordi- nator for Newman Apostolate in 1975. He also served as pastor of Christ the King Church and Holy Rosary Church, both in Evansville. Father Lutz was named ad- ministrator of St. Mary Church, Washington, in Jan- uary 1989; he has served as pastor of that parish since June 1989. Father David Martin has been appointed Pastor of St. Simon Church, Washington. Father Martin has served as pastor in solidum and moder- ator of St. Simon Church since June 1990. Father Martin, 41, is a Gib- son County native. He was born March 12, 1950, the son of William Martin and Dorothy Spahn Martin. After ordination May 14, 1976, he was assigned as as- sociate pastor of St. Matthew Church, Mt. Vernon. He has also served as associate pas- tor of St. Joseph Church, Princeton; teacher at Mater Dei High School, Evansville, and administrator of Holy Angels Church, New Harmo- ny. Father Robert Nemergut has been appointed Pastor in solidum of St. John Church, Evansville, along with Father John Davidson. Father Ne- mergut is also assigned as a member of the Urban Min- istry Team. Father Nemergut, 50, is the son of Stephen Nemergut and Helen Miron Nemergut. He was born in Bridgeport, Conn., May 13, 1941. After ordination by Bishop Francis R. Shea, on April 22, 1977, Father Nemergut was assigned as associate pastor of St. John Church, New- burgh. Subsequent assign- ments included service as as- sociate pastor of St. Joseph Church, Jasper; St. Anthony Church, Evansville, and St. John Church, Newburgh.
