Summer reading program at Good Shepherd The theme of the third annual SUmmer Reading Program at Good Shepherd School, EVansville, is "Put Your Hands on a Good Book and... READ." All students who participate in the summer reading program will receive a certificate. Stu- dents in grades kindergarten through three who read 10 books Will be invited to attend the Make Your Own Sundae party. Students in grades four through eight who read a minimum of five books with 100 pages .equalling one book will also be invited to attend the sundae Party. There will be a drawing for prizes for students in kinder- garten through grade three who read a minimum of 20 books and for students in grades four through eight who read a mini- mum of 10 books. The summer reading program is supported by the Good Shep- herd PTO. The school library and com- PUter lab will be open on Wednesdays from' 9 to 11 a.m. beginning June 26 and students are invited to attend storytime from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Valedictorian, salutatorian at Rivet Benedictines celebrate golden jubilees Sarah Traylor has been named valedictorian of the 1991 class at Rivet High School, Vincennes. Molly Herman is the class salu- tatorian. Wish Upon a Star Lynnette Reine, a student at Mater Dei High School, Evansville, is a recent recipient ' See SCHOOL page 11 Telecommunications Rachel Barnett and Laura Meng, seventh graders at Christ the King School, Evansville, spend some free time working on a computer telecommunication program that hooks their school up with other Evansville schools and with the Univer- sity of Southern Indiana. The students can send personal messages and play educational games. - Message photo by Mary Ann Hughes Three Benedictine sisters from Monastery Immaculate Concep- tion, Ferdinand, celebrated the golden jubilee of their first pro- fession on June 2. They are Sister Mary Jean Davis, Sister Martha Marie Tempel and Sister Mary Hilary Fehribach. Sister Da'vicLbegan her 48-year teaching career at St. Joseph School, Evansville. She also taught at schools in Haubstadt and Huntingburg. Her last as- signment was at Ferdinand Ele- mentary School from 1958 to 1986. Sister Tempel entered the monastery from St. Joseph Church, Dale. She is currently the sacristan at the monastery. She has taught at St. Joseph and St. Benedict schools, both in Evansville; St. James School, St. James; St. John School, Elber- feld; St. Celestine School, Celes- tine, and St. Thomas School, Vincennes. She spent her last 15 years of teaching at St. Anthony School, St. Anthony. She has a master's degree in administration from the University of Notre Dame. Sister Fehribach is a native of Dubois. From 1942 to 1951, she worked in supportive services in several locations, including St. Ann's Indian Mission in Bel- court, N.D. She earned her degree in ele- mentary education from St. Benedict College in 1970. She also studied at Indiana State Uni- versity. She taught at St. Theresa, Holy Redeemer and Holy Rosary schools, all in Evansville and at Holy Family School, Jasper. She was principal at St. Philip School, St. Philip, from 1971 to 1980. She is currently engaged in making vestments in the monastery vestment department. He is currently direc- tor of auxiliary services at St. Meinrad and administrator at St. John Chrysostom Church, New Boston. Recent graduate Tammy Hoffman, a member of St. Anthony Church, St. Antho- ny, is a 1991 graduate of Brescia College in Owensboro, Ky. They are Father Adelbert Busch- er,.celebra'ting 50 years as a priest, and Father Warren Heitz, celebrating 25 years as a priest. Father Adelbert was ordained to the priesthood August 6, 1941.
