Top prizes Jillian Morgan and David Owen, students at Resurrec- tion School, Evansville, Ore winners in the Arts Council An- nual Poetry Celebration Contest. Resurrection students Dax Miller and Steven Lamble are winners in the illustration divi- sion. Budding poets Andy Boehm, Julie Bosler, Jacob Byers, Chris Knies, Jamie Schpers and Erin Welp, students at Precious Blood School, Jasper, will have their poetry published in the Anthology of Poetry by Young Americans. Marissa Brown will read her poetry at the Ohio River Festival for the Arts. Anti-litter Kent Williams, Jason Bit- tner, Bill Wargel, Dane Batema and Todd Zimmer are winners in the Audubon Park Litter Bug contest. They are stu- dents at Holy Redeemer School, Evansville. Earth Day Joey Hayden, a sixth grader at St. Matthew School, Mount Vernon, placed first in the GE Earth Day poster and essay con- test. Hop-n-ing Pre-schoolers at Westside Catholic Consolidated School, Evansville, raised $1,400 for Easter Seals during a recent Hop- n-ing. Academic Team In the Hoosier Academic Super Bowl area competition, Mater Dei High School, Evansville, achieved two first place finishes in Division III and qualified a squad for state competition. Blue ribbon winners in English included Colleen Corcoran, Niki Hemmer, Meg Liffick, Tony Scheller and Krista Weinzapfel. Area champions and state qualifiers in fine arts are Dena Beyerstedt, Jay Cartwright and Colleen Cor- coran. Health Occupations Rachel Barnett, a senior at Memorial High School, Evansville, will represent the state of Indiana at the National Leadership Confer- ence in Chicago. She placed first in the HOSA Bowl and third in prepared speaking at the Indiana Health Occupations Students of Ameri- can State Leadership Conference.
