One project she and her committee of seven hope to complete by the end of the year involves saving whales. The group hopes to collect signa- tures on a petition to stop whaling in Norway. "I hope to send at least 500 names to President Clinton," she said. She believes that the petitions will make more peo- ple aware of the situation and increase the number of individ- uals who take on the cause of animals. The SETA committee has also installed birdhouses around the academy's campus. Posters have also been distrib- uted throughout the school no- tifying students about various animal issues. One poster dis- plays a list of cosmetic compa- nies which use animals to test products. "They [students] see a prod- uct from a company that tests on animals and the stop using the product," Perry said.
