Before he was three months old, he underwent two extensive surgeries to re- pair the defects. These repairs were not sufficient and his heart continued to deterio- rate. When doctors placed his name on a waiting list for a heart transplant, his parents, Joe and Rhonda Rollett, began ..... , .... i the transplant surgery and the even more difficult task of waiting. Last Wednesday, March 17, they received a call telling them to get to Kosair Hospital in Louisville immediately. Surgery began at 11:30 that night and wasn't completed until 7:30 the next morning. Since the surgery, he's been listed in critical but stable condition and he's "doing ev- him to do," his grandmother says. "They are weaning him from the ventilator. He's tak- ing 10 breaths on his own now for every one from the ventilator." His hospital stay is expected to last from six to eight weeks "if everything goes well," she said, adding "It's a guarded happiness I'm in right now."
