2 The Message -- for Catholics of Southwestern Indiana March 8, 1991 t Gift program Money to be used for Memorial, Mater Dei schools By PAUL LEINGANG Message Editor A Memorial and Honor Gift Program has been set up for Evansville Catholic Inter- parochial High Schools, accor- ding to Glenda Ossenberg, the schools' director of development. A memorial gift honors the memory of someone deceased. An honor gift "is a beautiful way to give tribute to someone you love," said Ossenberg. Envelopes are available at various locations, providing in- formation for people who want to give in the new program. "Your dollars do double duty with memorial and honor giv- ing," according to the informa- tion on the envelope. "You pro- perly care for a personal obliga- tion and at the same time lend a helping hand to maintain the highest standards of academic excellence for Mater Dei and Reitz Memorial High Schools." Ossenberg suggests that a gift to the schools can be made in honor of someone special for his or her birthday, anniversary or any other special occasion. "The gift honors the person named and helps others at the same time," she said. A memorial gift "in memory of someone deceased is one of many ways to honor the dead, console the family and at the same time lend a helping Youth group donation Katie Howard, a representative from St. Anthony's Youth Group in Evansville, presents a check to Helen Fffer to be used for the St. Anthony Center for Family Life. When a person makes a gift, she explained, a memorial or tribute card will be sent in the name of the giver to the person, group or family designated. The amount of the gift will be kept confidential and a receipt will be sent to the giver for in- come tax purposes. The names of the people honored will be printed in a special Memorial Honor Gift book annually.
