DAR contest Seventh grader Emily Steinkamp, a student at St. Bernard School, Rockport, placed first in the 1994 DAR con- test and eighth grader Valerie Lashley placed second. St. Ben's spellers Evan Keith and Dana Ter- rell placed first and second in the spelling bee at St. Benedict School, Evansville. Reading Aces at Holy Spirit Fifteen students at Holy Spirit School, Evansville, have reached their goals in the Jim Crews Reading Aces pro- gram; they have received tickets to a University of Evansville basketball game. Fifth graders include Jen- nifer Baumgart, Jessica Baumgart, Jarred Harvey, Brandon Poag, Amanda Mc- Donald, Nicole Sanders, An- drew Titus, Chad Turpen and Heather Townsend. Sixth graders include Emily Waller, Leah Stallings, Car- rie White, Shandra McAtee, Mike Thomas and Matt De- Vault. Champs! Members of the fifth and sixth grade girls basketball team at St. Joseph School, Vander- burgh County, won the Mater Dei league championship with a 7-0 record. They finished second in the Mater Dei tournament.
