The Message -- for Catholics of Southwestern Indiana Nominations being accepted for Pe_00Ze we care .i 1994 Teacher of the Year award y MARY ANN HUGHES Mess!ge staff writer Nomination forms are being accepted for the 1994 Teacher of the Year Award which is co- sponsored by the Message and the Office of Catholic Educa- tion. ' -:-"- Paul Leingang, editor of the Message, noted, "We call this honor, 'Teacher of the Year,' but what we really mean to honor is a teacher's ability to have an impact that lasts a lifter, line.: it:iS an honor we are happLtb:celebrate once a year, every year." The nomination form for the 1994 Teacher of the Year award is found on the bottom of this page. Anyone, with the exception of an immediate family mem- ber, may nominate a teacher for the award. All information concerning nominees will be kept confidential, including the name of the person submitting the nomination. The teacher must currently be employed in the Diocese of Evansville and musthave taught for a minimum of five years in Diocese of Evansville schools. The award will be based on the teacher's ability to teach students in the ele- mentary Or secondary level. The Teacher of the Year must be a good role model for students; have a major influ- ence in the lives of students; show concern with the faith de- velopment as well as the physi- cal, mental and emotional de- velopment of students, and encourage students to improve their abilities and talents. Teacher of the Year Nomination Form Deadline:. March 11 ,: 1994 The Message and the Office of Catholic Education are co-sponsoring the seventh annual Diocese of Evansville Teacher of the Year award which will be announced May 4, 1994. Anyone, with the exception of immedia(e family members, may nominate a teacher for this award. Final selection of the winner will be mad e by members of a panel chosen for their educa- tional expertise, interest in Catholic schools, and understanding of quality education. Criteria used for selection of the award will include excellence in teaching, innovation, dedication to Catholic education in the Evansville diocese, and the individual's contribution to the profession of teaching. The teacher must currently be employed in the Diocese of Evansville and must have taught for a minimum of five years in diocesan schools. The award will be based on the teacher's ability to work with students at the elementary or secondary level. The Teacher of the Year must be a good role model for students, have a major influence in the lives of students, show concern for the faith development as well as the physical, mental and emotional development of students, and encourage students to improve their abilities and o. ....
