2 The Message -- for Catholics of Southwestern Indiana Youth 36 St. John Bosco, St. Maria Goretti awards given By MARY ANN HUGHES Message staff writer Five-hundred-twenty-five teenagers attended Youth Day 36, held last Sun- day at Vincennes University. "There were no problems," said Mike Eppler, diocesan direction of Youth and Young Adult Formation. "The kids were extremely well- behaved. "It was just an exceptionally nice day. These kids give me hope." The day's activities included Mass which was concelebrated by every priest in the Vincennes Deanery. The teens also enjoyed swimming, bowl- ing, volleyball and a dance. Father Bernard Etienne, director of the diocesan vocations team and pas- tor at St. Joseph Church, Princeton; and Jack Thompson, diocesan Scout chaplain, received the St. John Bosco award. Teens from parishes throughout the Diocese of Evansville received the St. Maria Goretti award.
