For me, the good old days of rock are memories of Foreigner and Journey. Foreigner was resurrected from history last year, and now those great Steve Perry vocals with Journey are reappearing on the charts. The guy in Journey's "When You Love a Woman" reflects on romance. He told himself that he would "never fall" in love again. Yet, he realizes that his "searches" aren't over. He proceeds to offer some suggestions on what it is like to be in love. However, his ideas are not very helpful if you seek a healthy, lasting, relationship. For example: 1. "When you love a woman, you know she's standin' by your side." Well, yes and no. Certainly, love means times of closeness and feeling mutual support. However, love can also bring times of dis- tance and separation. And caring should not end because of misun- derstanding or conflict. 2. "When you love a woman, you see your world inside her eyes." Well, only if you are myopically self-centered! In fact, one of the best rewards of a healthy relationship is to learn to see the world in new and expanded ways. One's own perception of life is just that: one view. Instead of looking to another for tion of your opinions, take time world through another's eyes. Grow a little 3. Love means a "joy that lasts forever, "there's a band of gold that shines, waiti the teen years are not a time to be wedding bands. Instead, focus on 1 relationships, learning from and Be smart enough to avoid ships, realizing that you will learn yourself and relationships in general variety of people. 4. "If I can't believe that someone is in love is so hard to do." I do agree Lasting love is built on trust. If being hurt in a past ability to believe that another person can you probably need to spend other life interests and goals. Spend your friends. Then, as your spirit heals hurts, your ability to trust a tru once more return. Given all this evaluation, I'm still hear Journeys sound on the radio. C1 lives!
