The Message -- for Catholics of Southwestern Indiana III I II I I January15,1988 I I Any questions? Members of confirmation classes at St. Joseph Church, Dale, and St. Nicholas Chapel, Santa Claus, met Dec. 30with Bishop Francis R. Shea and toured the Catholic Center, Evansville. Confirmation is scheduled February 7 at St. Joseph, according to Religious Education, Coordinator Sister Joan Miller, O.S:F., who says the meeting with the bishop grew from a student s question about whether they could met the bishop before Confirmation. Bishop Shea fielded questions -- many of them per- sonal -- about his family and about the way he spent Christmas; he also answered questions about how bishol are selected, and about retirement. The fourteen students crowded together in the bishop's office with Father Joseph Kirech, pastor, Sister Miller, Stella Bennett, St. Nicholas confir- marion class teacher, and Brenda Hagedoru. "They felt they had a chance to get to know the bishop as a person"said Sister Miller, about the experience, "and the adults who went along enjoyed the visit, too." Resettlement agencies will --Message Photos by Paul Leingang not be seeing the group until June, after an orientation in the Phillippines, according to Loretta O'Donnell, resettlement coordinator for the Diocese of Richmond, Va. Then some will join their American fathers. But, accord- ing to one estimate, that will only account for 3 percent of the young people. Many more -- with mothers, stepfathers, siblings, and sometimes even spouses and children -- will be resettled by voluntary agencies such as MRS.
