Optimist essay contest winners Four of the top six winners of the Washington Optimist Club essay contest are students in the Washington Catholic school sys- tem. They are Amy Lynn Brown, first; Nancy Werne, second; Eric Wichman, third, and Matthew Dayton, fourth. Reading at Holy Spirit Students at Holy Spirit School, Evansville, have read a total of 37,303 pages as part of the Jim Crews Reading Aces program. Fourth graders read 6,757 pages. Fifth graders read 12,050 pages and sixth graders read 18,496 pages. Coloring contest winners Holly Diefenbach, a third grader at Corpus Christi School, Evansville, won third place in the Festival of Trees coloring contest.
